Nicole, this resonates so deeply. I love the reframe from “resolution” to “reset” — it feels humane, seasonal, and actually sustainable.
The line about not starting the year from a place of failure really landed. So much of New Year culture is thinly disguised self-punishment, especially for women already carrying full lives. Your approach feels like support instead of correction.
I also really appreciated the permission embedded here: that growth can look like simplifying, protecting energy, or just making days feel lighter. Not every year needs to be a “crispy rice salad” year — some years are about tending, not accelerating.
Thank you for articulating this so clearly. It’s a generous reminder that reflection can be productive, and that kindness is not the opposite of ambition — it’s often what makes ambition survivable. 💛Kelly
Hi Kelly! Thanks so much for your comment here and you are exactly right! The reset is about pausing to reflect and make changes that feel aligned and good and happy and calming to the soul. For example, if someone needs and wants to lose weight, great! But it has to come from a place of self love and not result in restrictive plans that set oneself up for failure. You get it 😉.
I love this mindset, Nicole!! Love the idea of a reset! I try to make a list of a few “fun” things/experiences for the year that I would like to do with my son and then a few for myself. Happy New Year!🤍🤍 thank you for everything!
